Iran May Use Proxies in Retaliation for US-Led Airstrikes
As tensions escalate between Israel and Iran, US intelligence has assessed that Iran may use its proxy forces to retaliate against recent airstrikes led by the US.
According to CNN, Iran has been providing weapons and training to Hamas, a Palestinian militant group that has been engaged in a bloody conflict with Israel since October.
The US general for the Middle East is currently in Israel as the region braces for a potential Iranian response to the airstrikes. Israel has stated that its military has effectively surrounded Gaza City and split Gaza into north and south.
Despite its aggressive military campaign, Israel has yet to achieve its goals of crushing Hamas and freeing the hostages held in Gaza. Meanwhile, violence between Israel and Iran's proxies continues to escalate, and the US is urging both sides to exercise restraint.
